  3. Lord Mayor visits New-Bridge Integrated College

The Lord Mayor of Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon  enjoyed a visit to the College on Wednesday 6 December 2017.   Mr Wilson requested to visit in person to lend his congratulations to the many accolades which have followed the news that New-Bridge integrated College has been named as the laureate of the Evens European prize for Peace Education.

The Lord Mayor met with Mrs Anderson, Principal, Mrs Harbinson, Vice Principal, representatives from our Sixth Form and representatives of the Diana Award, Anti Bullying Ambassadors.  Mr Wilson was delighted to listen to the experiences of the students and share information with them about his role as Lord Mayor. Mr Wilson was impressed by the work carried out by our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors in supporting the care and welfare of the younger pupils and invited the group to attend the Civic Centre for a lunch reception in the New year.

The Lord Mayor was excited to hear the feedback from Mrs Anderson in relation to the Conflict Matters Conference in London where the Evens Prize was awarded for the work that the College has initiated in dealing with controversial issues.    He enjoyed hearing about the symbolism associated with the gold pendant which was part of the prize and explained some of the symbolism around his own chain of office which he wore throughout the visit.

Mr Wilson promised to come back again in the New Year to address the larger school population and to hear about  our future plans as laureates of the prestigious European prize for peace education.

Well done Zara!
