New-Bridge integrated college was delighted to host the Cason  Showcase 2017 in the College on Thursday 19 October.   The Carson Awards are named in honour of the legendary Northern Ireland comedian Frank Carson and are sponsored by Frank’s son, Mr Tony Carson. The Carson Awards are an exciting opportunity for young people to express themselves creatively under the theme ‘What Integrated Education Means to Me’.

The art work and creative talents of students from integrated schools across NI was celebrated and Carson prizes were presented during the event. The proceedings were compered by actor Dan Gordon whose one man show ‘A Rebel Without A Pause’ based on the life of  the legendary funnyman Frank will run at the Lyric theatre from November 1-5.  A large number of integrated schools were represented at the event including members of the NICIE teachers’ committee.  Shimna Integrated College entertained with a live drama performance and our own Alanna McCourt sang her winning composition ‘New Beginnings’.    Special guests included Baroness May Blood, Mr Tony Carson, Mr Adrian Dunbar, representatives from the IEF and NICIE, visiting Principals, parents and members of the Board of governor of New-Bridge.

It was a wonderfully positive event for staff, pupil and parents and a real celebration of Integrated education.
