  3. EXCELLENCE IN INTEGRATED EDUCATION AWARD FOR NEW-BRIDGE!

We were delighted to welcome Mrs Roisin Marshall, Chief Executive Officer of NICIE,  on her first official visit to the College on Friday 10 February.  It was a proud day for New-Bridge as the purpose of Mrs Marshall’s visit was to  present the College with the prestigious Excellence in Integrated Education Award (EIEA).  The aim of the award is to demonstrate how recipient schools live up to the integrated ethos.  EIEA accreditation provides an opportunity for schools to show parents, and the wider school community, the ‘added value’ offered to their pupils through integrated education. It also celebrates and endorses good practice, and creates a shared identity for integrated schools.

The application was extensive and two external assessors spent several days in the college interviewing staff, parents and pupils to ensure the necessary evidence and criteria were met.  As part of the assessment process, New-Bridge Integrated College had to organise a ‘showcase’ day to demonstrate to the assessors how integration is embedded within the fabric of the school. The process is  lengthy and can take a minimum of one year, and up to three years, for a school to meet NICIE criteria. Following completion of the assessment, a report was forwarded to an ‘Awarding Panel’ which made a determination regarding the award of EIEA.

We are delighted to have achieved such an important and prestigious award which reflects the ethos and mission statement of New-Bridge Integrated College.
